Mantoloking Bridge County Park is located at 70 Herbert St, Brick Township, NJ 08723. Itโs a great place to go fishing (especially for crabbers), walking along the waterfront, and taking in the views. The park sits right next to Mantoloking Lighthouse State Historic Site which is also worth checking out if you have time. There are multiple trails through the park that lead to a series of beaches as well as other points of interest like an old railroad tunnel that runs underneath both Mantoloking and Brick Township. The main access point to the park is from River Road. To get there, take Route 35 south from Route 33 or alternatively Route 322 south from Route 35. Once youโre on River Road, look for the sign pointing towards Mantoloking Bridge on your left near where it meets with Canal Road (the access road for Mantoloking Lighthouse).
You can catch crabs at Mantoloking Bridge
Crabbing is a great way to catch a lot of crabs in a short amount of time. The best way to do it is to find a body of water with a lot of submerged vegetation. Itโs hard to find a place to do this in New Jersey where you can also catch crabs in rivers, lakes, ponds, etc. but Mantoloking Bridge County Park is a good place to try. The park sits right at the mouth of the Raritan River and is known for having good crabbing. A lot of people fish here as well. To get to the park, you can use the access points off of River Road or Canal Road. If you use the former, youโll find a parking lot on your left. The lot is small and usually fills up by 9am. If you use the latter, youโll find a lot on your right. It fills up later in the morning but usually empties out by 9pm. If you donโt want to park in either lot, you can park on Canal Road and walk over to the park. You can also find a metered or pay-to-park lot on River Road.
Walking trails in Mantoloking Park
Mantoloking Bridge County Park has a variety of trails that are great for walking or running, bird watching, and fishing. There are multiple walking trails that are marked with markers on the ground. These trails are often used by dogs and their owners as well. If you have a dog with you, youโre allowed to bring them along on the trails. There are also a few paved walking trails where you can bring your roller skates or bikes. There are also plenty of benches along the walking trail to take a break and admire the views. If youโre interested in fishing, there are two boat ramps where you can fish. One is off of Canal Road and the other is off of River Road. To get to the park from the ramps, youโll need to walk down to the beach.
Fishing is also good at Mantoloking Bridge County Park
There are two fishing spots along the waterfront that are good for people of all skill levels. The first is a small area just west of the lighthouse. This is a protected area that is usually crowded with people fishing and doesnโt have a lot of room for you to fish. The second spot is further west on the waterfront. This spot has fewer people fishing and is better for smallmouth bass and bluegill fishing. If you want to fish out at sea, there are docks out on the water where you can rent a fishing pole and fish all the way out in the ocean. This is only available on the weekends.
